State Indicators 1981 through the current year is an electronic databases of research performance measures in the sciences and social sciences of each of the 50 United States, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia.

 |
Based on unique and authoritative publication and citation statistics from Thomson Scientific, it contains the number of Thomson Scientific-indexed papers from each state and the number of times the papers were cited through the current year. Analyze the data for each year, for the entire period, the most recent five-year period, or in five-year moving windows of papers published and cited for one or any group of states. Examine performance overall or in one or more of 24 broad subfields in the sciences and social sciences (Standard Version); or 105 narrower fields, including the humanities (Deluxe Version). Compare actual and relative performance using built-in baseline statistics. Review output, impact, citedness, and percent share figures. Plot the data over time. Make tables, charts, and graphs with just a few key strokes.
