There has also been a further expansion of Japanese patent coverage in DWPI
First View. Until now, a typical Japanese patent record in DWPI First
View provided an English-language translation of the original author title
and abstract. Now this coverage has been expanded to include a translation of
the main claim – for both JP-A and JP-B patents. Like the titles and abstracts,
the main claim translation is created for WPIFV using the output from Thomson
Scientific’s proprietary Machine-Assisted Translation (MAT) system with
post-processing by our technical staff in Japan.
