ISI WEB OF KNOWLEDGE ENHANCES ANALYTICAL POWER
Thomson Scientific Platform is the Benchmark for Quality and Innovation
Philadelphia, PA, USA-London, UK - June 27, 2005 When launched in December 2001, ISI Web of KnowledgeSM ushered in a new era of research. Since then, it has set the standard in providing researchers with a single environment from which to seamlessly navigate to the highest quality journal and Web content, evaluation tools, and bibliographic management products. Today, Thomson Scientific (a business of The Thomson Corporation) announced that the pioneering research solution has been enhanced with new customer-requested features—keeping ISI Web of Knowledge at the forefront of quality and innovation.
The ISI Web of Knowledge platform lets users analyze while they search via the Analyze Tool. Updated in this latest release, the Analyze Tool refines results by author, publication year subject category, institution, and language or source title. The Analyze tool’s graphical display allows users to gain insights into hidden trends and patterns. The new version of the ISI Web of Knowledge allows users to save their analyze results, providing the capability to export results from a desktop in their preferred format for further trend analysis.
Dr. Karel Hruska, professor at the Veterinary Research Institute in the Czech Republic used the Analyze Tool to confirm his suspicions that a bacteria found in animals is linked to Chron’s disease in humans. “Without the Analyze Tool such analysis could not be done,” explained Dr. Hruska.
In response to customer requests, ISI Web of Knowledge now allows users to sort across their entire results set. For example, a sort by Times Cited will allow them to analyze only the most highly cited records, a distinction that often identifies the most influential and important works in a field.
“ISI Web of Knowledge provides researchers worldwide with unparalleled access to scientific research and discovery, and is the paradigm of what can be achieved when high quality content and the most progressive technologies are merged,” said Keith MacGrergor, executive vice president of Academic & Government markets, Thomson Scientific. “The necessity of such a resource has been echoed by our customers. We designed ISI Web of Knowledge to meet their requirements and we continue to refine it based on customer feedback.”
