THOMSON SCIENTIFIC APPOINTS RICHARD RIEGEL AS GENERAL MANAGER OF LIQUENT
Philadelphia, PA USA-London UK - August 4, 2005 Thomson Scientific today announced that Richard "Rick" Riegel has been named General Manager of its Liquent regulatory solutions business. Forty-eight of the top 50 global life sciences companies rely on Liquent regulatory solutions for the technology and services to compress the regulatory submissions and approval process, improving speed to market, cost control, and productivity. Riegel has more than 20 years executive sales, marketing and practice leadership experience in technology and professional services firms focused on the pharmaceutical and life science industries.
Riegel comes to Thomson Scientific from Taratec, a leading life science consultancy, providing integrated business, information technology and regulatory compliance services. Prior to joining Taratec, Riegel was with IBM, where he served as the General Manager for the Pharmaceutical industry and then as Vice President of Solution Marketing for IBM Healthcare and Life Sciences. And before IBM, he spent eight years at First Consulting Group (FCGI), where he ultimately served as the Managing Director of the company's Life Sciences Division.
In these positions, Riegel successfully built and led teams of more than 500 associates and was responsible for more than $80 million in revenue. He established new consulting practices in the US and Europe; managed acquisitions; and created and executed new business, marketing and sales strategies that dramatically improved revenue and profitability.
