A newsletter of the Dialog leadership development program for information professionals

Dear Quantum2 Member...
With July well under way, many of you are likely considering a summer vacation to recharge and prepare for the autumn onslaught that will take you through the final few months of the year.

In the last issue of Quantum2 Highlights, we presented a new schedule of Quantum2 workshops for the rest of the year. We now are planning some face-to-face workshops at Dialog Updates during September and October. To help us with these worldwide programs, we are very pleased to present a new crop of Quantum2 coaches. In the following months, we will introduce you to these new coaches in our "Getting to know..." series. For more details, read on.

GETTING TO KNOW...
YOUR Quantum2 COACH

Tessa HeffernanWith so many sessions to present around the globe, we are pleased to present one of our newest Quantum2 coaches, Tessa Heffernan, who will be helping to deliver these sessions. Tessa is an applications specialist at Dialog and is based in our London office.

How long have you worked for Dialog?

I have been with Dialog for 21 years in a variety of positions. I joined when the company was known as DataStar, and have witnessed the company’s tremendous evolution since that time.

How did you come to join Dialog?

I decided to change careers from being a user of information to being a seller of information. Previously, I was an information officer at British Petroleum and a researcher at J Walter Thompson.

What are your key responsibilities?

As an applications specialist in Europe, I’m involved in liaising with Dialog’s sales representatives and their customers and prospects. I also help our customers understand, identify and position the right content.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Knowing that customers are receiving the content that they need to help them do their jobs more efficiently, and seeing them continue their relationship with Dialog year after year.

What is the most challenging aspect of your work?

Keeping up with the wide range of subjects our clients are researching.

What did you want to be, growing up?

A journalist or translator.

What three words would you use to describe yourself today?

Mature, open and interested.

What are your plans for the future?

To refocus on career development now that my children are older.
