Dear Quantum2 Member... Quantum2 Community of Practice Just a reminder that Dialog and SLA are partnering to offer the Quantum2 Community of Practice dedicated to leadership development for information professionals. Quantum2 members are invited to join to share ideas and best practices for topics such as defining the value of information services and gaining visibility with management. This community is available to all SLA members. Find out more details about joining the Dialog Community of Practice. International Quantum2 InfoStars The Quantum2 program was part of the overall Dialog presence at London Online 2004. A dedicated area of our main stand served as backdrop for welcoming our newest InfoStars at a special recognition presentation. Here are the five international InfoStars and their details: Vijaya Sundaram joined Cairn Energy in 1997, when the company began operations in India. She developed various information initiatives, including her company's intranet, used to provide access to key geological and exploration related content directly from desktops across the enterprise. She has also been proactive in highlighting the value of information services to senior management. Earlier this year, Minna Abrahamsson was promoted to the position of information services manager, with global responsibility in the Library Services unit at Nokia Corporation. She has an open and fresh outlook to professional skills development, a willingness to embrace new ideas and encourages initiative and innovation among her coworkers. Minna has successfully made the transition from academic librarian to a business information specialist. She is a strong advocate of networking and the power of relationship building within organizations and professional groups in order to achieve her goals. Manuela Colombi of Janssen-Cilag SpA (Italy), a member of the Johnson & Johnson family of companies, has been in the information profession for many years. As manager of Scientific Documentation and the Pharmacovigilance Service in the medical department, she coordinates all of Janssen-Cilag SpA's scientific information procurement. Colombi is a member of GIDIF, RBM Gruppo Italiano Documentalisti dell'industria Farmaceutica e degli Istituti di Ricerca Biomedica (Italian Group of Information Professionals in the Pharma sector). She also has served as president of the European Association for Health Information and Libraries (EAHIL) and currently sits on its International Executive Board. Azahar Mohd Noor has been at Petroliam Nasional Berhad in Malaysia as manager of the petroleum resource center for more than 17 years. He has consistently demonstrated outstanding leadership in his organization, led the overall operations of his department and contributed his expertise to the Petronas University, a private university owned by his company. In 2003, Azahar was asked to set up the Perdana Library for the newly established Perdana Leadership Foundation dedicated to Malaysian leadership and national development. The library provides integrated information services and has a collection of past policies, strategies and initiatives. Christine Cameron, with more than 15 years experience in the medical information profession, was, until recently, European medical information manager heading the Hematology Business Unit at Novo Nordisk. Prior to that, she held departmental head positions at Serono and Elan. Christine's influence in the pharmaceutical information sector is extensive, having served as past president of the Association of Information Officers in the Pharmaceutical Industry. Christine is known for championing change and innovation. Her objective is to promote and drive the role of the "new" information professional, and she works hard to forge alliances both with suppliers and users of information. Christine has recently joined Chiron Biopharmaceuticals as medical information manager for its European Medical Group. Congratulations to all our InfoStars who epitomize the attributes of Quantum2 leadership, raising both the visibility and value of information services within their organizations through a fresh approach to understanding their patrons' needs. As always, your suggestions for workshop topics are always welcome and encouraged. If you know a friend or colleague who would benefit from Quantum2, please encourage them to sign up today.
