Dear Quantum2 Member,

Quantum2 Year-End Summary
**********************************************************************
The Quantum2 program at Online Information 2003 was a highlight feature of the overall Dialog presence. For the first time, a dedicated area of our main stand was made available for our coaches to emphasize the leadership development program and to register new members. Our special area also served as a focal backdrop for welcoming our newest InfoStars at a special recognition presentation.
For the second year, two workshops were offered as part of the free Information Masterclass and Careers Seminars. Libby Trudell, Dialog senior vice president of information professional development, delivered "Assessing Client Needs: Map the Information Flow" and Cynthia Murphy, Dialog senior vice president of strategic marketing, presented "Creating a Brand Identity."
In 2003, the Quantum2 team reached information professionals around the globe, from North America throughout Continental Europe, and for the first time, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. This extension was made possible by the development of a new team of Quantum2 coaches, and our thanks to them for helping us to reach an even greater number of participants. Apropos of this, one of our new initiatives during year was the introduction of our coaches to you through the "Getting to Know Your Quantum2 Coaches" feature in several of our newsletters through 2003. Look for more interviews with your coaches in 2004!
Another new initiative in 2003 was the launch of the Quantum2 Discussion Forum. Several threads on competitive intelligence were initiated, and the latest discussion on return on investment (ROI) was recently launched by Marilyn Bromley of BNA. Please sign up and let us know your views on this very topical issue.
Last, but not least, an increasingly popular feature this year has been the monthly WebEx workshops that we began offering immediately after the Special Libraries Association conference this year as an additional means of providing our leadership sessions to information professionals who might otherwise have found it difficult to take time out of the office to attend. Registrations for these workshops have shown a steady month-on-month increase. Look for additional WebEx workshops for early in the New Year!

InfoStars at Online Information 2003
**********************************************************************
Three new InfoStars for Europe were honored at the Dialog stand during Online. They are:
Pia Jeppesen Hansen, an information specialist for H. Lundbeck A/S (Denmark). Among her other responsibilities, Pia manages internet and database training for various departments and units at her company, including new employees and helps to manage the company's online portal.
Jacques Hellemans, a librarian at the University Library of Brussels (Belgium). Jacques is in charge of the library's economic section and is involved in managing cooperative programs with other libraries, particularly in Africa.
Veronica Whitehorn, a medical information manager for Shire Pharmaceutical Development Ltd (UK). Veronica has responsibility for her company's medical information team and library staff and before joining Shire, held information management positions at Quintiles (UK) Ltd and Bayer plc.
Each of the InfoStars epitomizes the attributes of Quantum2 leadership, and each has raised the visibility and value of information services within their constituencies to a new level through a fresh approach to understanding and addressing needs. Our official photographer captured the special moment for our InfoStars, and we will be featuring them on our Quantum2 Web site during 2004.
