Dear Quantum2 Member...

Welcome to the Quantum2 Highlights  for March. This month we would like to reflect on how the competencies that we have as information professionals can clearly translate into business competencies. The Quantum2 framework is focused specifically on these leadership competencies, both strategic and tactical. We will analyze their components, so that you can more easily map your competencies to those in a business environment.

Upcoming Quantum2 Session in London

For Quantum2 members in London, get ready for a forthcoming workshop on April 22, 2008 at the Thomson Scientific office, the Johnson Building, 77 Hatton Garden, London EC1N 8JS.

Scenario Planning for Information Services

Accountable decision-making in organizations requires a high element of certainty based on an adequate level of knowledge and confidence in our assumptions about that knowledge. Given today's fast-changing, information-driven environments, decision-making has become more complex than ever before. This complexity undermines our ability to understand how the future will unfold, and thus how well we, as information managers, can meet our obligations to provide appropriate information solutions that align with business priorities.

This workshop builds on our Strategic Planning session to give information managers insight into using "scenario development" as a planning tool to answer the "what if ?" questions that involve important issues and large external influences that impact strategic decision-making.

Registration notification will be available shortly, but mark the date now in your calendar!

Quantum2  Topic of the Month: Transferring Info Pro Competencies to a Business Environment

Regardless of the specific environments in which they work, information professionals have a unique set of competencies that enable them to meet the requirements of their jobs. Not only do these competencies enable them to fulfill traditional information management roles, they are clearly and easily transferable to the business environment.

Strategically, they can be used to position an information service; to develop products and services that add value to the work of our clients; to package and promote the products and services in a way that is attractive to existing and potential clients; to persuade clients that our services are better than those offered by any of our competitors; and to perform in such as way that we consistently exceed the expectations of our clients.
