THOMSON SCIENTIFIC, SCHOLARONE, AND BLACKWELL PUBLISHING COLLABORATE TO OFFER A SIMPLE PROCESS FOR MANUSCRIPT REVIEW
New Tools Will Help Improve Decision Making and Quality of Information
Philadelphia, PA USA-London UK — July 10, 2006 — The world of scholarly research, in which manuscript review is a vital but sometimes lengthy process, will soon benefit from the collective expertise of Thomson Scientific, ScholarOne and Blackwell Publishing. Today, the three organizations announced a collaboration that will provide authors, editors and reviewers with tools to enhance each stage of the manuscript review process.
These tools will integrate elements of ScholarOne® Manuscript Central™ with Web of Science® and EndNote® from Thomson Scientific making it possible for authors to create their manuscript in EndNote and seamlessly submit it for review using Manuscript Central. Additionally reviewers and editors using Manuscript Central will reap the benefits of one click access to times cited, related records and links to the full record in Web of Science from manuscripts, making the review process more efficient. New task-focused tools developed for Manuscript Central will interact in real time with the Web of Science so editors can easily find reviewers and check references for completeness and reviewers can place an author's new work in its entire research context with a single click. Blackwell Publishing will collaborate in the application of these innovative tools before they are made available to the publishing community at a later date.“Our work together will be significant in that it will enable a major advance in the ease of author submission and the quality of information available to editors and reviewers for the decisioning process,” noted ScholarOne President & CEO, William T. Carden, Jr.
“Blackwell is always looking for innovative ways to enhance the services and tools available to our authors, reviewers and editors,” added Philippa Scoones, Web publishing director. “We are delighted to work with Thomson and ScholarOne on this project.”
“Thomson Scientific is delighted to have the opportunity to expedite the publishing process by integrating our authoring tools and information resources with ScholarOne's Manuscript Central for a complete workflow solution,” said Jim Pringle, vice president of development for Thomson Scientific. Pringle also emphasized: “Blackwell's participation will be key to ensuring that the collaboration results in valuable tools for the publishing community.”
