Beyond the RAE 2008: Bibliometrics, League Tables and the REF
A one day conference 30th April 2008
Jointly sponsored by King's College London and Thomson Reuters

A timely event focusing on the increasing importance of bibliometric data in the controversial university ranking systems and the proposed use of citation data for the research output aspect of the Research Excellence Framework (REF), the successor to the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE).

The meeting focused on uses of citation data in research evaluation, providing a forum for representatives of UK universities to discuss and plan for future evaluative activities, and encouraging best practice in managing and utilising the data to best advantage.

The audience included information professionals and others within HE institutions responsible for collecting and managing research output metadata.

Speakers represented the stakeholders in UK research evaluation and case studies from three UK HEIs.
